What is Acroyoga?

Acroyoga has various influences. This trendy sport was developed by a former Acrobat in the beginnings of the 21st Century with the objection of making Partner Acrobatics accessible for everyone and finding a way of marketing with the word Acroyoga.

Acroyoga has become a non-competitive sport that focuses on playfulnes, human connection & communication. The focus should always be the fun of it and not the final pose, clearly separating itself from competitions.

Various practicioners adding up the Thai Massage practice at the end of their session to sharing some love to the body of their partners.

The influences of styles in Acroyoga are endless. Focussing on flowy transitions and beautiful shapes is clearly coming from Yoga

Moving through high throws and spins while the base lies on their back seem to be the influence of circus artistics.

Moving in standing positions are clearly influenced by sports acrobatics, cheerleading and Rock'n'Roll acrobatics.

Acroyoga is constantly changing and theirfore a cotemporary discipline with no fixed rules of movements but clear technical patterns to support each other in whatsoever shape.

Who we are

July & Hapi

July & Hapi

Their story started in 2018, when Hapi already practiced Acroyoga for about 1 year, he showed it to July on their very first date.

They haven't had much time to connect back then so Acroyoga was the mean to find human connection on an instant in a 45min lunch break.

A pose didn't go as it was supposed to, they slipped, catching themselves nose to nose with electricity in the air on could light up a fire with.

Since that day Acroyoga turned into their shared passion, never getting tired of new movements. Hapi started teaching in 2021 since then he thought in various location in Europe, focusing on Austria and now in Vienna.

July always supported his efforts and started teaching Acroyoga in 2024 with him, enriching the classes with her playful style she is bringing from teaching classical saxophone with focus on kids from 8-55 years old.

Since then they are teaching in Vienna bringing their passion to this vibrant city.

Knowing Hapi and July as a friend, I always knew there’s this hobby called Acroyoga. But as soon as Hapi made me try Acroyoga, I realized it’s not just a hobby - it’s a passion - and I fell in love with it as well. Both, Hapi and July taught me a lot, not just fancy tricks, but the way of communicating with each other and focusing onto key aspects, to be able to do these tricks myself. If there ever came a moment I was doubting my skill, they were making me belief that I’m capable of doing it, making me trust myself as well as trusting the person I'm playing with.

The Acro Yoga course with Hapi was my first Acro experience. For me, it was the ideal combination of flexibility and sport with other people. Even in the first session, I was able to do simple but cool moves with my partner. After I was so enthusiastic, I also met up with Hapi outside the course and did a few more difficult things, because he got even more out of me as a flyer.
